Ukraine, Denmark sign agreements worth $629 mln for production of long-range drones, anti-tank guided missiles, missiles and artillery
By the end of 2024, the Defense Forces will purchase long-range drones, anti-tank guided missile systems, missiles and artillery mounts produced in Ukraine as part of agreements on Denmark's support for the Ukrainian defense industry worth DKK 4.2 billion ($629 million), which were allocated earlier.
As reported on the website of the Ministry of Strategic Industries of Ukraine on Monday, the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Strategic Industries concluded a number of relevant implementation agreements with the Danish Ministry of Defense.
"The documents finalize the agreements recorded in the Letter of Intent, which was signed in late September in Kyiv. They provide for a number of purchases from Ukrainian defense companies for a total of approximately EUR 535 million. The sources of funding are the governments of Denmark, Sweden and interest from frozen Russian assets," the Ukrainian Defense Ministry said in a statement.
In particular, DKK 1.3 billion is money from the Danish state budget, and DKK 2.9 billion is interest from frozen Russian assets, which Denmark manages on behalf of the EU.
"In the conditions of a full-scale war, the support of our international partners is critically important for strengthening Ukraine's defense capability. Denmark was the first to start purchasing weapons directly from our defense enterprises. The 'Danish model' of cooperation is not only solidarity, but also determination to support our struggle for freedom and sovereignty," Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine Dmytro Klymenkov, is quoted by the press service.
