SBU source reports explosions, smoke at Aleksinsky chemical plants, staff evacuated
The Aleksinsky chemical plant in Russia's Tula region, which was attacked by drones of the Security Service of Ukraine and the Special Operations Forces (SOF), is exploding and smoking, the staff has been evacuated, a source in the SBU told Interfax-Ukraine.
"New details of the SBU and SOF drone attack: the Aleksinsky chemical plant is exploding and smoking. The staff has been evacuated," the source said.
At least 13 drones hit the chemical plant last night.
"Because of the acid release, the key target – the gunpowder production shop – is now smoking orange," the source said.
At 1:10 p.m., another explosion was recorded at the facility attacked by SBU and SOF drones, the chemicals caught fire from previous strikes. The plant itself has been shut down, the staff evacuated.
The source also confirmed the damage to the Aleksinskaya thermal power plant. A 110 kV power transmission line was damaged.
