Petro Poroshenko has bought twelve new excavators for the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) and urged the authorities to immediately build fortifications on critical front lines. The machines are equipped with electronic warfare means to protect military builders.

He urged the authorities to build fortifications on the administrative border of Donetsk and Dnipropetrovsk regions, in Kharkiv, Sumy and Zaporizhia regions, as well as reminded of the need to have second and third lines of defense.

The cost of this batch of excavators is $1 million. Previously, Poroshenko has already handed over 40 diggers to the Ukrainian army.

"We ordered six diggers per month and we are extending this order for 2025," Poroshenko said.

"Meanwhile, our team continues to deliver excavators to the front. Twelve new Ukrainian-made excavators equipped with electronic warfare. This is one of the scarcest positions. Already in the near future we will bring them to the battalions and brigades that asked us for this equipment – artillerymen, paratroopers, marines, Ground Forces," he said.

"They said in the Department of State and the White House more than three years ago that we should dig trenches, prepare fortifications. They did not start digging anything," Poroshenko emphasized.

He also noted that during the Ukrainian counteroffensive in 2022, the Russians strengthened the defense, recalling that the "Surovikin lines" were built then.
