Ukraine to try commander of Russian National Guard department in Krasnoyarsk Krai for execution of peaceful residents in Hostomel

Ukrainian law enforcement officers have completed the investigation and sent the case to court against the commander of Russian National Guard (Rosgvardia) department in Krasnoyarsk Krai (territory) for shooting civilians in Hostomel, Kyiv region, the regional prosecutor's office said.

"Under the procedural guidance of Kyiv regional prosecutor's office, an indictment was sent to court against the commander of Russian National Guard department in Krasnoyarsk Krai for violating the laws and customs of war... (Part 2 of Article 28 Part 2 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine)," Kyiv regional prosecutor's office said in a statement on its Telegram channel on Friday.

According to the investigation, on February 25, 2022, the commander of the Russian National Guard department for Krasnoyarsk Krai, along with other officers, were in the town of Hostomel, Bucha district, Kyiv region.

"Russian Armed Forces servicemen opened aimed fire from automatic firearms and shot two civilians who were driving in a car along the highway. The man and woman died on the spot from their wounds," the office said.

The pretrial investigation was conducted by the Main Directorate of the National Police in Kyiv region.
