Ukraine, Lithuania to deepen cooperation in military-industrial complex, particularly with UAVs, electronic warfare, technologies
Ukraine and Lithuania on Monday, November 4, signed a Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation in the Defense Industry, Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov has said.
As follows from Umerov's statement on Telegram, the Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, the Ministry of National Defense of the Republic of Lithuania, the Ministry of Economy and Innovation of the Republic of Lithuania and the Ministry of Strategic Industries of Ukraine on cooperation in the defense industry was signed in Kyiv by Lithuanian National Defense Minister Laurynas Kasčiūnas, Umerov and the Minister of Strategic Industries of Ukraine Herman Smetanin.
According to Umerov, the document, in particular, provides for the joint production of UAVs and their components, ammunition and components, electronic warfare equipment, and the development of advanced technologies.
"I am sincerely grateful to Lithuania and personally to Mr. Kasčiūnas for the comprehensive support of Ukraine. Lithuania is our loyal friend, who helps us diplomatically, economically and, most importantly, militarily," Umerov said.
He also said that during the meeting they also discussed specific ways to deepen cooperation. "Among the topics are plans for 2025 aimed at providing even greater military assistance to Ukraine," Umerov said.
