Sybiha: Ukraine confident of US assistance, to build close allied relations with elected president

Ukraine is confident of Washington's continued support for Kyiv after the U.S. presidential election, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha has said on Monday.

"We are confident of U.S. support, and after the elections we will build close allied relations with whichever president the American people elect. We are confident in the bipartisan support of the United States and the support of the people of the United States," he said at a joint press conference with German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock in Kyiv.

The minister thanked Germany for its assistance to Ukraine, noting that the country is second after the United States in terms of support.

He noted that as of August 31, 2024, the United States allocated EUR 56.8 billion worth of military support to Ukraine, while European countries allocated EUR 54.6 billion.
