Kyivteploenergo starts supplying heat to 16% of housing stock
As of October 31, Kyiv's municipal heating provider, Kyivteploenergo (KTE), has started supply heat to 1,617 apartment buildings, which represents 16% of the city's housing stock.
"The launch of heat supply to all buildings will take up to seven days, as the capital has one of Europe's largest centralized heating systems – 2,700 km of heating networks, combined heat and power plants, and 160 heating plants involved in the heating process," the company reported on Thursday.
According to KTE, a faster launch is technically impossible, as a sudden increase in heating load could lead to emergency damage.
Buildings that receive heat based on collective agreements are connected by request from their management.
The heating season for social institutions in the city of Kyiv began on October 14, with individual applications submitted by their administrators. Currently, 418 (92%) schools, 472 (88%) kindergartens, and 277 (79%) healthcare facilities are receiving heat through the centralized system.
