Russian drone Lancet to be studied to enhance electronic warfare systems Ai-Petri
The Russian loitering munition Lancet, which Ukrainian servicemen were able to land and receive undamaged, will be transferred to the developers of the cyber defense and electronic warfare systems Ai-Petri SV, the website of the party European Solidarity reported on Friday.
"These attack UAVs cause enormous damage to our army. To counteract the Lancets and the Orlan, Zala, and Superkam reconnaissance drones, which provide guidance, the Ai-Petri SV systems were developed. Dozens of systems are already covering hundreds of kilometers of the front. But the technological battle continues, the enemy is constantly improving its kamikaze drones, changing frequencies - so our engineers need feedback from the fighters," the statement says.
It is difficult to get an enemy drone undamaged, but one was obtained. The military handed it over to leader of European Solidarity, businessman Petro Poroshenko, during his trip to the eastern front with a batch of military aid. According to the politician, the drone will be handed over to engineers who will disassemble it to study all the technological details and make the appropriate adjustments to counter this weapon.
"This is a very cool gift from Ukrainian intelligence officers, from Ukrainian fighters of the Center for Countering Technical Intelligence. This is a Lancet manufactured in 2023... This is the reason for the constant strikes on the armed forces. It flies up to 70 km, it is guided by the Zala and other types of UAVs. And it is to blame for the fact that Ukraine is suffering heavy losses," Poroshenko said.
In November last year, the businessman announced an investment of UAH 150 million in the development of the system, which was later called Ai-Petri SV. The project's funding has now exceeded UAH 200 million, and dozens of systems have already been transferred to the front.
"I believe in our team, I believe in the programmers, I believe in the engineers. And I believe in the unique skill of those crews who are now using this cyber defense right on the collision course," Poroshenko noted.
