Forty-two UAVs, four guided enemy air missiles shot down – Air Force
Ukrainian military shot down 42 UAVs and four enemy guided air missiles that had been attacking Ukraine since Saturday night, the Ukrainian Air Force reports.
"On the night of October 19, 2024 [from 21:00 on October 18], Russian occupiers struck Ukraine with guided air missiles [launch area - Black Sea waters], Shahed-type attack UAVs and unspecified drones [launch areas: Kursk, Yeysk, Primorsko-Akhtarsk - Russia]," the report says at 12:00 on Saturday.
The Air Force's radio-technical troops detected and tracked more than 100 aerial targets: up to 98 enemy drones and six X-59/69 guided air missiles.
The air attack was repelled by aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare units and mobile fire groups of the Air Force and Defense Forces of Ukraine.
As of 12:00, as a result of the anti-aircraft battle, four X-59/69 guided aircraft missiles were shot down. Also at this hour, there is confirmation of the downing of 42 enemy UAVs in Odesa, Sumy, Cherkasy, Kyiv, Kirovohrad, Chernihiv, Poltava, Mykolaiv and Kherson regions.
Some 46 Russian drones have been lost locally so far, information about the downing/fall is being clarified and updated.
Several enemy UAVs are still in the airspace of Ukraine. Combat operations continue, the Air Force notes.
