Zelenskyy withstands American politicians' pressure to lower mobilization age – Leschenko

Adviser to the Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Serhiy Leschenko has confirmed that American politicians from both Democratic and Republican parties were pressuring Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy regarding the issue of lowering the mobilization age.

"As long as this information has risen to the surfaced, I can confirm: American politicians from both parties are pressuring President Zelenskyy regarding the issue of why Ukraine is not mobilizing those between 18 and 25 years old," he said on the Telegram channel on Tuesday.

According to the advisor, the partners argue their position with the experience of the U.S. war in Vietnam, when young men aged 19 and older were sent to war.

"Therefore, the Americans hint: Western weapons alone are not enough, we need mobilization from the age of 18," Leschenko said.

"President Zelensky withstood and continues to convince politicians from both parties to give weapons without changing the draft age," he said.
