Ukrposhta redirects shipments going through Poland to UK, reduces time of intl delivery

JSC Ukrposhta is redirecting international shipments that were previously going through Poland to the UK, which allows it to significantly reduce the delivery time.

As Ukrposhta CEO Ihor Smilyansky said in an exclusive interview with Interfax-Ukraine, the company is also negotiating with Royal Mail to reduce tariffs and improve conditions for Ukraine.

"Poland is one of the countries that causes certain delays in the delivery of international shipments. That is why we redirected the flow of parcels through Britain. Now at least one truck goes to London every day. Customers have already felt the acceleration," he said.

According to Smilyansky, Ukrposhta also worked with DHL via Poland, but the deadlines were not satisfactory, so the shipments were redirected to Britain.

"We currently have a record – delivery by car from Kyiv to London in 37-40 hours," Smilyansky said, noting that if they manage to reach an agreement with USPS, goods from Amazon to Ukraine will also be sent via Britain.

"They will be delivered to London and will be in Ukraine the next day," Smilyansky said.

The Ukrposhta's CEO said negotiations are ongoing with the British post office Royal Mail on discounted rates for Ukraine and improved conditions.

"I hope that as a result, the rates for sending parcels from Ukraine to Britain will also decrease," Smilyansky said.
