Biden postpones trip to Germany this week due to Hurricane Milton – White House
President of the United States Joseph Biden has postponed his trip to Germany, during which his meetings with NATO leaders and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy were planned at the Ramstein Air Base on October 12.
"Given the projected trajectory and strength of Hurricane Milton, the U.S. President is postponing his trip to Germany and Angola in order to oversee preparations for and the response to Hurricane Milton, in addition to the ongoing response to the impacts of Hurricane Helene," Spokesperson for the White House Karine Jean-Pierre said on the X social network on Tuesday.
As reported, Biden planned to meet with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, French President Emmanuel Macron, and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer in Berlin on October 12 for talks on Ukraine. Afterward, he was supposed to head to the U.S. air base at Ramstein for additional talks with around 20 other leaders, including Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and the prime ministers of Italy, Poland and Canada.
As the White House said on its website, during his visit to Germany, Biden was to chair a meeting at the level of leaders of countries and governments of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group in the Ramstein format. Also. A meeting between Biden and Zelenskyy was scheduled in Germany.
Zelenskyy said that he planned to present his Victory Plan and specific steps for putting a just end to the war at the meeting, as well as convince partners of the necessity to strengthen Ukraine's positions during the autumn and to invest in the production of drones and electronic warfare.
