Yermak on Ukraine's key priorities: clear approach to inviting NATO, removing all reservations regarding types of conventional weapons

Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Andriy Yermak had a phone call with former NATO Secretary General (2009–2014) Anders Fogh Rasmussen.

“The interlocutors coordinated their positions ahead of Anders Fogh Rasmussen’s upcoming visit to Washington and the 25th Ramstein meeting, which will take place on October 12 at the leadership level,” a message posted on the Ukrainian president's website on Monday reads.

"The key priorities for Ukraine remain a clear and understandable approach to the invitation to join NATO, with defined timeframes and conditions of accession, as well as the removal of all restrictions on the types of conventional weapons, particularly the use of long-range weapons for strikes deep into Russian territory," Yermak said.

Also, as co-chairs of the International Task Force on Security and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine, the Head of the Office of the President and the former NATO Secretary General also discussed its future work plan.

Additionally, the parties reviewed the implementation of recommendations from the report titled "Ukraine’s Euro-Atlantic Future: Paving the path to peace & security," published in May of this year. The document, in particular, outlines arguments and specific proposals regarding Ukraine's future NATO membership.
