Over 13,000 people remain in Pokrovsk; Russians are 7 km from city's outskirts – administration
Russian forces are approximately seven kilometers from the outskirts of Pokrovsk in Donetsk region, subjecting it to constant shelling, the city's critical infrastructure is currently almost 80% destroyed, Head of the city's military administration Serhiy Dobriak said.
"There are 13,050 residents left in the city, including 94 children. I thank all our citizens who listened and evacuated. By the way, just a month and a half ago there were 48,000 people and almost 5,900 children in the city," Dobriak said on the air of the nationwide telethon on Friday.
Dobriak said the city is under constant shelling by UABs. "This is civilian infrastructure, as always critical infrastructure. It practically no longer exists, almost 80% of it is damaged or destroyed. The enemy leaves us without electricity, without water, without gas," he said.
According to Dobriak, the situation with electricity supply "is very difficult: almost half of the city and ten villages, and also the city of Rodynske remain without electricity, and restoring the electricity supply is extremely difficult, even impossible."
Nevertheless, health facilities that are still operating are provided with generator groups. "All critical infrastructure has generator groups, we are well prepared," Dobriak said, noting that doctors are also provided with a supply of medicine and blood. If there are wounded, they are immediately taken to Dobropillia Clinical Hospital. In addition, several family doctors remain in the city, and several second-level doctors – therapists and a surgeon – remain in one of the hospitals. Several shops and a market are open to provide the most basic necessities.
Regarding the evacuation of the remaining city residents, Dobriak said that the process is continuing, people want to leave, places are being prepared for them in a planned manner, since they are leaving with their families. "They will definitely leave," the head of the city military administration said.
