Zelenskyy's visit to USA shows support for Ukraine in world – Nalyvaichenko
The visit of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to the United States, his participation in the UN General Assembly in New York showed serious support for Ukraine in the world, Secretary of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on the Integration of Ukraine into the European Union Valentyn Nalyvaichenko (Batkivschyna faction) said.
"Both Putin and a very limited circle of his supporters, such as Iran and Belarus, have seen the real power of peace and what serious support there is for Ukraine," Nalyvaichenko told Interfax-Ukraine on Monday.
The MP said "China, India, Brazil and other countries are gradually being drawn into the orbit of stopping Russian aggression." "They are still speaking in their own words, in their own formulations, but they are also increasingly involved in countering Russian aggression, and now also in countering Putin's nuclear threats," Nalyvaichenko said.
Speaking about the results of Zelenskyy's meetings in Washington, the MP noted the importance of Zelenskyy's presentation of the Plan for Victory to President Joe Biden and Congress. "Ukraine did the right thing by presenting consolidated steps, albeit not in detail yet, but in each area – economic, military, diplomatic – that are necessary for Ukraine's victory and for it to become a member of the EU and a member of NATO. And they, by the way, are fully supported by Washington," Nalyvaichenko said.
He said Congress had previously allocated $62 billion in defense aid to Ukraine and demanded that a strategy for Ukraine's victory be presented. "It's good that Ukraine acted in a partner-like manner and brought such a plan," the MP said.
According to Nalyvaichenko, the Plan for Victory will be finalized with U.S. partners and in 12 days in Germany it will be discussed at a meeting of the contact group on the defense of Ukraine in the Ramstein format and it will be implemented in specific decisions.
"And I expect that from October 12 they will begin to make decisions (both public and non-public) to implement those positions that primarily concern armed assistance to Ukraine, provided for by this plan," Nalyvaichenko said.
He said the meeting in the Ramstein format will be held at the highest level with the participation of U.S. President Biden, French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer.
