URCS, SES sign memo of cooperation
The Ukrainian Red Cross Society (URCS) and the State Emergency Service (SES) signed a memorandum of cooperation.
"General Director of the Ukrainian Red Cross Society Maksym Dotsenko and Chairman of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine Andriy Danyk signed a memorandum aimed at ensuring an effective and prompt response to emergencies, protecting the population in emergency situations," the URCS reported on Facebook.
According to Dotsenko, the URCS and the SES have many years of experience in cooperation in responding to crisis situations.
"Unfortunately, the war has brought new challenges, and now we are working together at the sites of shelling, helping people affected by the destruction of critical infrastructure and residential buildings. The signing of this memorandum will further strengthen our cooperation and support for both rescuers and people in need of help," Dotsenko said during the signing ceremony of the memorandum.
He emphasized that the priorities of the URCS will continue to be - material and technical support for the units of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine and volunteer fire brigades, increasing the resilience of communities in responding to emergencies and the level of public awareness of today's threats, as well as educational and outreach activities in educational institutions.
Recently, the URCS handed over 745 emergency self-defense and decontamination kits to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in case of chemical, radiological and radiation threats, as well as 3,000 protective suits. Some 200 territorial communities, as part of the all-Ukrainian project to improve the safety of territorial communities, received protective clothing, fire helmets, gloves, primary fire extinguishing and warning equipment from the URCS in order to equip volunteer fire brigades.
In addition, eight regional organizations of the Ukrainian Red Cross Society joined the territorial subsystems of the Unified State Civil Protection System. By the end of the year, two more organizations will join this system.
