Turkey ready to facilitate negotiations between Russia and Ukraine to achieve peace – Erdogan
Turkey is ready to become a participant in negotiations between Russia and Ukraine to achieve peace, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Thursday.
"Turkey, the main supporter of achieving peace between Russia and Ukraine, is ready to take part in negotiations between the two countries and wants to be involved in the process of establishing regional peace," Daily Sabah quoted him as saying.
Speaking about the war, Erdogan stressed at a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy the day before, as the Turkish president's press service informed, "stressed that Turkey is ready to come up with a variety of initiatives, including taking on the role of mediator to achieve a lasting and just peaceful settlement."
Erdogan noted that he supports the sovereignty of Ukraine, and recalled that Ankara has stated from the very beginning that the only way to peace is dialogue.
