France to provide Ukraine with at least EUR 60 mln in energy support until late 2024
France will provide Ukraine with at least EUR 60 million by the end of this year, Pierre Heilbronn, Special Envoy of the President of France for Ukraine's Relief and Reconstruction.
"With winter approaching, the situation is critical —we must act now to bring swiftly concrete energy solutions. France will provide at least EUR 60M by the end of the year!" he wrote on the X social network following the meeting of the G7+ Ministerial Group on Energy Support for Ukraine at the level of Foreign Ministers on the sidelines of the 79th session of the UN General Assembly on Monday evening.
U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken noted at this meeting that the G7+ countries had mobilized more than $4 billion to support Ukraine's energy sector since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion.
The statement following the G7+ ministerial meeting emphasizes that countries welcome further commitments to provide financing and in-kind support to cover the most urgent needs of the Ukrainian energy sector, including repairs to damaged power plants and district heating systems, deployment of new, distributed energy sources, emergency backup power for critical services, and passive protection of energy infrastructure.
