Prosecutors close criminal case against businessman Sokolovsky's company

A criminal case conducted by the Holosiyivsky District Prosecutor's Office in Kyiv against Vechirnia Zirka LLC, part of businessman Oleksandr Sokolovsky's assets, has been closed due to a lack of evidence of a crime, the businessman announced on Friday.

"The criminal case managed by the Holosiyivsky Prosecutor's Office was closed yesterday 'due to lack of evidence of a crime'! As a result, the accusations, extortion of bail money, and the property seizure have all been deemed illegal," wrote the owner of the Textile-Contact group on Facebook.

However, Sokolovsky stressed that the matter will only be fully resolved once the actions of the prosecutor in charge, Oleksandr Shapovalov of the Holosiyivsky Prosecutor's Office, are evaluated.

"This is crucial to prevent such pressure on businesses in the future. Holding those responsible accountable is a step towards justice and transparency," Sokolovsky said.

He expressed gratitude to the Business Support Council under the President of Ukraine, which, after receiving an official appeal, joined the review of the submitted materials and "did everything possible to resolve the issue promptly."

"I would also like to thank the Prosecutor General's Office, which immediately organized an inspection of my appeal. Subsequently, Kyiv's Prosecutor's Office transferred the case to the Shevchenkivsky Prosecutor's Office, where, after impartial investigative actions, the case was closed," he wrote, also thanking his legal team.

As reported, Sokolovsky accused the Holosiyivsky Prosecutor's Office and Prosecutor Shapovalov of illegal actions and fabricating fraud accusations regarding municipal property, allegedly causing the state UAH 46 million in damages.

Sokolovsky further stated that he had repeatedly received offers to "settle the case" with the prosecutor's office from former Kyiv City Council deputy Serhiy Kotvytsky, who was interested in real estate owned by Vechirnia Zirka LLC.

Sokolovsky's case gained widespread attention, with notable politicians, the business community, reputable online platforms, and popular Telegram channels expressing their support. According to the businessman, his Facebook post received nearly 3,000 shares.
