Zelenskyy: Putin does not want to stop war as he afraid of Ukraine's success
Vladimir Putin does not want to stop the war, despite the messages about the alleged "peace," because he is very afraid of Ukraine's success, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy believes.
Zelenskyy said in an interview for Fareed Zakaria's GPS program on CNN that he (Putin) had not changed his main idea. And sometimes he plays only for some leaders who are waiting for some emotions from Putin to hear something about peace. And sometimes he can convey some messages to the Global South or somewhere else, and they start talking that Putin is ready for dialogue, Zelenskyy said.
The president noted that Putin is a player and feels this weakness of the West and the Global South, and also finds a place where they are not united, where they have different interests.
According to Zelenskyy, this is a problem that people need to understand: his mission is not to stop the war. He doesn't want to stop anything because he doesn't need to and he's very afraid of Ukraine's success. It's not even about winning, the head of state emphasized.
According to him, to win, it is necessary to make Ukraine strong, because then the other side knows that you are as strong as possible to influence its society, so as not to be very happy about this war.
Zelenskyy noted that Putin is not afraid of leaders or countries, or anything except his own society, the Russian people.
According to the president, if the Russians are in danger, if they do not have a comfortable life, if they live without energy, like our people, they will understand the price of war. They will be unhappy with this and will begin to influence him, Putin. That is why I said make Ukraine strong, and you will see that he will sit down and begin to negotiate, the president concluded.
