Foreign Ministry calls on Iran to refrain from transferring ballistic missiles to Russia – statement
The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry expressed deep concern over reports of Iran possibly transferring ballistic missiles to Russia and stated that confirmation of these facts would have devastating consequences for Ukrainian-Iranian relations.
"We warn the official Tehran that if the fact of Iran's transfer of ballistic missiles to the Russian Federation is confirmed, it will have devastating consequences for Ukrainian-Iranian bilateral relations," the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry said in a statement, released on Saturday.
The Foreign Ministry called on the Iranian leadership to refrain from transferring any types of weapons and military equipment to the Russian Federation as an aggressor state, noting that Ukraine and Ukrainians have been subjected to daily Russian terrorist attacks for more than two years now "with all types of lethal weapons, including drones of Iranian production."
The ministry also notes that the deepening of military-technical cooperation between the Russian Federation and Iran poses serious security threats not only to Ukraine, but also to all of Europe, the Middle East and the world, and in this regard called on the international community to "increase pressure on Tehran and Moscow to protect international peace and security."
Iran must completely and finally stop supplying weapons to the Russian Federation "in order to prove with actions, not words, the sincerity of the statements of its political leadership about non-involvement in feeding the Russia`s deadly war machine," the Foreign Ministry emphasizes.
