Verkhovna Rada appoints Oleksiy Kuleba as Dpty PM for Restoration of Ukraine
The Verkhovna Rada has appointed Oleksiy Kuleba as Deputy Prime Minister for Restoration of Ukraine and Minister for the Communities and Territories Development, Ukrainian MP Yaroslav Zhelezniak (Holos faction) said on Thursday.
According to him, 240 MPs voted in favor of Kuleba's appointment as Minister for Regional Policy at a plenary session of the Verkhovna Rada.
As reported, before his appointment to the Cabinet of Ministers from January 24, 2023, Kuleba held the position of Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, and before that, since February 2022, he was twice appointed as Head of Kyiv Regional State Administration.
Earlier, since January 2021, Kuleba was the First Deputy Head of Kyiv City State Administration, and before that he was the Director of the Urban Development Department of the executive body of the Kyiv City Council.
On May 9, 2024, the Verkhovna Rada dismissed Deputy Prime Minister for Restoration and Minister of Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development Oleksandr Kubrakov. The initiators from the ruling faction Servant of the People called the reason for the failure of the Ministry of Restoration created at the end of 2022 by joining the Ministry of Infrastructure to the Ministry of Regional Construction and declared the need to restore the latter. A few days later, the government appointed First Deputy Minister Vasyl Shkurakov as Acting Head of the Restoration Ministry.
On 4 September, the Servant of the People faction said that the Ministry of Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development would be split into two ministries, not immediately, but in a few months.
