Largest Ukrainian manufacturer of fire protection materials Kovlar Group declares information attack

The largest Ukrainian manufacturer of fire protection materials Kovlar Group declares a discrediting campaign and demands an investigation, the company's press service reported.

"We are taking all possible measures to bring to justice those involved in the creation and dissemination of slanderous information, and are preparing statements to the National Police of Ukraine, the Security Service of Ukraine and the State Service for Special Communications and Information Protection of Ukraine to investigate this incident," director of Kovlar Group, Kostiantyn Kalafat, commented on the information campaign from August 14-25, during which, according to him, more than 100 identical commissioned publications were posted in Ukrainian media with the aim of discrediting Kovlar Group, its founders and employees.

According to Kalafat, media experts estimate the cost of such an attack at $50,000-100,000. This indicates the seriousness of the customers' intentions to tarnish the reputation of Kovlar Group as the main obstacle in the theft of funds during government purchases of fire protection materials.

He believes that the placement of these publications is part of a planned information campaign related to the activities of unscrupulous competitors who have won tenders in recent years with the support of corrupt officials.

"As the practice of tenders in recent years shows, the price of Ammokote fire protection materials manufactured by Kovlar Group is significantly lower than the price of products with which unscrupulous companies win tenders, deceiving the state and stealing hundreds of millions of hryvnias from the Ukrainian budget," he said.

Kalafat recalled that the topic of multi-million embezzlement of budget funds in tenders for fire protection of state facilities was investigated by Yuriy Nikolov, a journalist for the Nashi Groshi project. According to his investigations, in 2014, 2019 and 2024, the price of fire protection paint and putty for the needs of the nuclear industry was overstated by five times, and in projects for the construction of coatings for strategic energy facilities - up to 10 times.

"It is likely that the ultimate goal of corrupt businessmen is to stop the activities of the largest Ukrainian manufacturer of fire protection materials, which forms transparent rules of the game on the market and offers one of the lowest prices for fire protection materials. If such a plan is realized, the construction industry will receive a significant increase in prices for fire protection, and the state will be forced to spend huge amounts of money on purchasing fire protection materials," he stated.

As reported, despite the information attack, the company continues to operate as usual, producing high-quality fire protection materials and investing in the development of new products.

Established in 2015, Kovlar Group produces more than 25 types of passive fire protection products using modern technologies that allow Ukrainian construction customers to obtain high-quality fire protection materials at an affordable price. Scientific developments and a customer-oriented approach have allowed the company to grow from a startup into the largest domestic manufacturer of fire protection products in nine years, currently occupying about 60% of the market.
