Severance of diplomatic relations with Mali won’t have serious consequences for Ukraine – head of Rada Committee on Foreign Policy
The severance of diplomatic relations with Mali will not have serious consequences for Ukraine and will not affect its relations with the countries of the Global South, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Foreign Policy and Interparliamentary Cooperation Oleksandr Merezhko (Servant of the People faction) believes.
"There will be no serious consequences, since there are no established relations between Mali and Ukraine today," Merezhko said in a comment to the Interfax-Ukraine news agency on Monday.
According to the head of the committee, the rupture of diplomatic relations with Mali will not affect Ukraine's relations with the countries of the Global South.
"The fact is that there was a military coup in Mali, which was condemned by the UN. Now there is a military junta in this country, which is generally not respected among the countries of Africa and the states of the Global South," Merezhko stressed.
