Interior minister: there’s enough evidence the detainee in Dnipro shot dead at Farion

Law enforcement officers have sufficient evidence that the 18-year-old boy detained in Dnipro on Thursday was the direct perpetrator of the murder of the MP of Ukraine of the 6th convocation from the All-Ukrainian association Svoboda, ex-lecturer of the Lviv Polytechnic University Iryna Farion, said Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Ihor Klymenko.

"There is enough evidence to assert that it was the detainee who shot at the linguist. Some 139 hours of continuous work by a huge team of operatives, investigators, criminal analysts, experts, police services, employees of the Security Service of Ukraine have yielded a result," Klymenko wrote on the Telegram channel on Thursday.

According to the Interior Minister, law enforcement officers "checked every corner along the route of the shooter's departure and searched about 100 hectares of forest."

"Finally, the suspect was tracked down. We have established an identity. Since there was a photo of him, it was a matter of time: smart surveillance cameras caught him everywhere," Klymenko said.

Reporting on the detainee, the minister noted: "18 years old, a resident of Dnipro. During the preparation for the crime, he rented at least three apartments in Lviv."

According to the Interior Minister, the detainee is currently in police custody. "It is important to know all the details. So far, the investigation is inclined to believe that the shooter is only a performer," the minister drew attention.

"The identification of the killer and his detention was a painstaking process that required the highest professionalism, endurance and discipline so as not to make any mistake. Thanks to the whole team!" summed up Klymenko.

He also promised to make public more detailed information later.
