Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski has asked EU foreign ministers to lift restrictions imposed by their countries on Ukraine's use of long-range weapons provided to it, RMF24 reports.

"I believe that this will certainly be self-defense, which is allowed by international law. The protection of children's cancer hospitals is not an escalation," he stressed following a meeting of the EU Foreign Affairs Council in Brussels on Monday.

According to Sikorski, Ukraine could thus prevent Russian attacks, for example, such as the recent shelling of a children's cancer hospital in Kyiv, striking aircraft launching cruise missiles and attacking airfields from which they take off.

The Polish Foreign Minister also added that during a videoconference on Monday, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba acknowledged that the situation in Ukraine is very difficult.

The head of Polish diplomacy also called on his colleagues to do two things - toughen sanctions against the Russian Federation and use Russian assets by the end of the year to obtain a loan that will allow Ukraine to function, as well as to purchase weapons.
