Heorhiy Tykhy appointed as MFA new speaker
Heorhiy Tykhy has become the new speaker of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) said.
Tykhy has worked in the media since 2008: as an editor and reporter on Savik Shuster's programs (2008-2013), producer of the first German television channel ARD in Ukraine (2014-2018), and own correspondent for the Ukrinform national news agency (2018-2012).
In 2014, he covered for German television the events of the Revolution of Dignity and the beginning of Russian aggression in eastern Ukraine. In August 2014, together with his colleague Ivan Liubysh-Kirdey, he was surrounded in Ilovaisk, where he made a documentary about Ukrainian volunteer heroes in the surrounded city. In 2018, he founded the Ukrinform office in New York, the United States.
Since 2019, he started working in government communications: press secretary to the Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration (October 2019 to March 2020), and subsequently communications adviser to Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba (March 2020 to July 4).
