Govt approves concept of state program on use of AI in priority sectors of economy

The Cabinet of Ministers approved the concept of a state targeted scientific and technical program for the use of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies in priority sectors of the economy for the period until 2026.

The corresponding order (No. 320-r dated April 13, 2024) was published on the government portal.

The Cabinet of Ministers identified the Ministry for Strategic Industries as the state customer of the program and instructed it, together with other interested central executive authorities, to develop and submit to the government a draft state program for the use of AI technologies in priority sectors of the economy within six months.

The Cabinet of Ministers identified mechanical engineering, chemical and petrochemical industries, coal, defense and nuclear industries, scientific and scientific-technical activities, agriculture, and healthcare as priority sectors of the economy in which AI technologies are used.

“The state program determines the priority areas and main tasks for the development of artificial intelligence technologies and introduces state support mechanisms aimed at creating favorable conditions for the development of innovative technologies using artificial intelligence technologies in priority sectors of the economy,” the order notes.

It is expected that the developed and implemented state program for the use of AI will help increase the economic potential of Ukraine and strengthen the state’s position in the global market.
