DTEK Energy machine builders to ship cage for external customer by March

Corum Druzhkivka Machine-Building Plant (Corum DrMZ), part of the Corum Group machine-building holding (DTEK Energy), plans to ship a cage for an external customer from the mining industry at the end of February, the plant reported on Facebook.

"The equipment will operate in a vertical shaft and will ensure lifting and lowering of personnel, movement of tools and hand luggage, as well as maintenance of shaft communications," the statement said.

The cage is 4.76 meters high and weighs 1.65 tonnes, including the suspension device. It can transport up to 1.15 tonnes of cargo or up to six workers per lift.

The cage design does not provide for the movement of mine rail cars.

The plant emphasized that the cage project is non-standard, designed to meet specific customer requirements, and is not part of serial production.

A special feature of the cage is an integrated capture system built into the metal structure. In the event of an emergency, it is activated by interacting with shaft guides.

As part of the order, a parachute system and suspension device are also being manufactured.

Corum DrMZ, relocated in 2022 from Druzhkivka (Donetsk region) to the city of Dnipro, according to YouControl, recorded nearly UAH 90 million in losses in January–September 2025 compared with net profit of UAH 4.6 million during the same period of 2024, along with slightly lower net sales revenue of UAH 844.6 million.

As reported, in 2025 the plant produced, among other items, 358 units of underground mine transport and more than 935,000 spare parts and components, as well as over 400 metal structures. Repairs of KPD mining combines became a separate area of activity.

Corum Group is a leading manufacturer of mining equipment in Ukraine. It is part of DTEK Energy, the operating company responsible for coal mining and coal-fired electricity generation within the energy holding DTEK owned by Rinat Akhmetov.
