Ukrnafta conducts over 1,210 sq km of 3D seismic surveys

JSC Ukrnafta systematically carries out geological studies of the subsoil for drilling planning. In total, the company conducted over 1,210 sq km of 3D seismic surveys in various regions of Ukraine, the company reported in a press release on Friday.

"In 2024, the company studied 582 square kilometers of its exploration permits. In 2025, that rose to 629 square kilometers — the largest annual volume of 3D seismic surveys in the company’s history and a record for the enterprise. We systematically explore subsoil within our permits to clearly understand resource placement and plan further drilling and other technological operations," said Ukrnafta CEO Bohdan Kukura.

In addition to land-based 3D seismic surveys, the company conducted polarization seismic studies using the Vertical Seismic Profiling (VSP) method on nine wells in 2024–2025 — three in 2024 and six in 2025.

"This method involves taking seismic measurements directly within the well, allowing more precise identification of geological formations and reducing risks when planning new drilling," the company explained.

In 2026, 3D seismic surveys are planned on four of the company’s exploration permits.

JSC Ukrnafta is Ukraine’s largest oil-producing company and operates the country’s largest national network of gas stations, UKRNAFTA. The company manages 1,807 oil wells and 164 gas wells.
