Ukraine to receive EUR 85 mln grant through EBRD for gas purchase – Shmyhal
The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and one of the European countries will provide Ukraine with EUR 85 million for the purchase of additional gas volumes, First Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Energy Denys Shmyhal said.
Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal wrote on Telegram Tuesday that Ukraine secured EUR 85 million through EBRD instruments to purchase additional volumes of gas. Work is also nearly complete on obtaining a grant from one of the European countries, he added.
Shmyhal said the topic was discussed during an online conversation with EBRD President Odile Renaud-Basso.
"We are grateful to our partners for this! We will continue cooperating to find additional sources of financing," the energy minister emphasized.
He added that ongoing financial support from the EBRD for Ukrenergo and Ukrhydroenergo is also critically needed, as it helps cover repairs, equipment, and the implementation of new solutions to ensure people have electricity and heating.
