Nomination committee approves independent members of Energoatom's new Supervisory Board – Ukrainian PM
The nomination committee has approved the independent members of the new supervisory board of NNEGC Energoatom, Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko reported.
"The selection was conducted unanimously. The committee includes representatives of the government and independent observers – the EU, the EBRD, the IFC, and the Business Ombudsman," Svyrydenko wrote on Telegram.
The independent members of the supervisory board will be: Rumina Velshi, an international nuclear safety and regulatory expert with more than 40 years of experience who previously headed Canada's nuclear regulator, the IAEA Commission on Safety Standards, and the Association of International Nuclear Regulators; Laura Garbenciute-Bakiene, a specialist in finance, audit, and risk management in the energy and infrastructure sectors with more than 25 years of experience, who held senior positions at PwC (the United States, Ukraine, Lithuania) and worked on audit and risk management at strategic energy facilities, including the Ignalina Nuclear Power Plant; Patrick Fragman, an engineer and international executive in the nuclear and energy sector with more than 30 years of experience, former President and CEO of Westinghouse Electric Company; and Brice Bouillon, a lawyer specializing in energy regulation and corporate governance who held senior positions at EDF International and EDF Energy, oversaw legal, compliance and regulatory functions, and worked at the French Council of State and the Energy Regulatory Commission.
According to the prime minister, the selection of the three state representatives to the supervisory board will be completed in the first half of January.
"At the same time, we are continuing to renew supervisory boards across the entire energy sector at Naftogaz, Ukrhydroenergo, Ukrenergo, the Gas Transmission System Operator of Ukraine, Centrenergo, and other companies. In total, 12 companies are in focus," she wrote.
Among other things, she said that state audits of Energoatom and defense-sector enterprises are ongoing, and their results will be promptly forwarded to law enforcement agencies.
