Ukrainian govt simplifies transfer of energy equipment to stabilize power supply during war – PM
Ukraine's Cabinet of Ministers has allowed electricity distribution system operators to lease state-owned energy equipment without auctions, Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko reported.
"Today, at a government meeting, we adopted a decision that allows electricity distribution system operators to lease state-owned energy equipment without auctions. Transformers, cables and other equipment that is currently idle on the balance sheets of state-owned enterprises can be used to quickly restore power after shelling. In conditions of constant attacks, these resources must work where they are needed immediately," Svyrydenko wrote on her Telegram channel following the government meeting on Wednesday.
According to her, the Ministry of Energy will coordinate the inventory of such equipment and the assessment of the power system's needs.
"After that, the equipment will be promptly transferred to grid operators for work on the ground. The new procedure will be in effect for the period of martial law and for another six months after its termination," she added.
