Law on increasing taxes unconstitutional, cannot be signed by president - MP Yuzhanina
The MP from the European Solidarity faction, former head of the parliamentary committee on taxation and customs policy Nina Yuzhanina called on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to veto the law on amendments to the Tax Code (11416-d), which increases military tax and other taxes.
"Considering that today draft law 11416-d is awaiting signature by the president, considering that today in the Verkhovna Rada hall he clearly stated that he understands the state of society, he spoke several times about unity, about respect for each other, about the fact that we are not each other's enemies, we must act together. He must now understand that he cannot sign the unconstitutional draft law," Yuzhanina said on the air of the Priamy TV channel on Wednesday.
In her opinion, it is necessary to urgently create a working group that will propose new sources of replenishment of the state budget without increasing taxes for citizens.
"We must demand that he urgently convene a working group that in a few days will propose replenishment of the budget at the expense of other sources. And we will be able to finance our Armed Forces in the amount that was originally planned, and provide additional revenues to the budget at the expense of other sources," the parliamentarian emphasized.
She also noted that investors already working in Ukraine and those who may come in the future do not accept such legislative changes.
"Raising taxes, if we talk about business, is only for those who work "legally" and pay taxes. If we talk about people, this is an uneven burden on their income. The only rate for the average salary of a teacher or doctor of UAH 12,000 and the average salary of a civil servant of UAH 100,000 is a different tax burden and a different feeling for the family budget," Yuzhanina explained.
