Nova Poshta faces labor shortage due to workforce migration to companies offering 100% draft exemption – head
Companies like Nova Poshta, Ukraine's largest logistics operator, which can only exempt 50% of their workforce from military service, are experiencing severe labor shortages as workers migrate to companies offering 100% exemption from conscription.
This trend was highlighted by Nova Poshta co-owner Viacheslav Klymov during the "Dialogues on the Future. Business and War" forum organized by NV on Wednesday.
"We're seeing a trend where employees are migrating to companies that guarantee 100% exemption. In my view, this is creating a significant imbalance," Klymov stated.
He added that this exacerbates the labor shortage already caused by mobilization.
To date, 3,549 Nova Poshta employees have been mobilized into Ukraine's armed forces, with 166 of them having lost their lives, Klymov said.
Despite these challenges, Nova Poshta is addressing negative trends by retraining women for roles traditionally not held by women. The company is also investing in technology and process automation.
"Nova Poshta is doing everything possible to ensure that the negative developments in the labor market do not lead to a decline in service quality," Klymov said.
"We need to maintain our level of service... War and blackouts cannot be an excuse for lowering our standards. Consumer expectations remain high. After the war, we'll face growing competition, both domestically and internationally. We need to be prepared for that," Klymov said.
