Most applications for compensation for damage to housing insured against war risks have recently come from Kyiv, according to the INGO insurance company one of the first in Ukraine to start insuring housing against war risks.

According to its data, for example, on July 8, 2024 alone, several messages were received about insurance cases in Shevchenkivsky and Holosiivsky districts of the capital, where several insured apartments received minor damage as a result of a missile strike. The nature of the damage is almost the same for all cases: minor destruction by a blast wave and damage by debris. Windows and doors were damaged, partly – interior decoration, some furniture was damaged and communications were damaged. According to the head of the claims department of INGO insurer Oleh Kovalenko-Kuzholny, in the report provided, after submitting all the necessary documents, clients received payments within two weeks. As it became known, the owner of one of the apartments insured the home ten minutes before the shelling. And although at that time the insurance contract had not yet entered into force, as an exception, it was decided to pay the victim UAH 50,000 in the form of charitable assistance.

The remaining compensation amounts ranged from UAH 32,000 to UAH 109,000 depending on the extent of damage.

As the company noted, in order to receive compensation, clients must provide a minimum of documents. First of all, this is a written notice of the occurrence of the event and the insurance contract. The fact of the occurrence of an insured event is established on the basis of a certificate from the police, which must also be attached to the insurance case.

JSC INGO insurance company has been providing insurance services for 30 years. Since 2017, the main shareholder is the Ukrainian business group DCH.
